Public Relations Manager

Public Relations  Manager will work across all in-house teams to deliver unique and mediable stories. Candidate must be motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with day-to-day activities such as media monitoring, writing, pitching, client relations, planning, and events

  • Foster current relationships with key media “friendlies” while continually building new relationships with key journalists

  • Have a key understanding of media relations and the ever-changing landscape

  • Liaise with media through a mix of channels within key categories including, business, tech, beauty, and consumer

  • Execute editorial calendars (beauty, business, and tech awards, special editions, etc)

  • Provide key insights into readable trends, events, and holidays

  • Oversee and execute PR mailers and other deliverables

  • Conduct proactive media outreach, prepare press releases, media briefings, messaging documents, coverage reports, and communications plans

  • Participate regularly in PR strategy sessions and regular team meetings to coordinate activities, contribute ideas and execute on new initiatives.

  • Strategize and proactively target pitch and secure media coverage of client brand.

Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of public relations agency experience

  • Deep media relations understanding and a love of news

  • An expert in finding and developing stories, and driving visibility — from creating major moments to developing a drumbeat of ongoing pitches

  • Ability to provide essential support for press initiatives including strategic thinking, research, and writing

  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills, as well as organizational and planning skills

  • Must have a full understanding of media needs and media relationships

  • Must be proactive, reliable, resourceful and have great attention to detail

  • Ability to independently manage multiple projects and clients with changing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Experienced translator of a brand’s business objectives into strategic media relations and content marketing initiatives that build brand awareness and drive business results.

  • Experience developing and carrying out effective communications campaigns on beauty industry issues in a fast-paced work environment a definite plus.Interpersonal skills.

  • Experience interacting with the public and the media regularly; therefore, the public relations specialist must be open and friendly to maintain a favorable image for the agency.
