Sourcing Manager

Overview:†

  • The ideal candidate will possess: (1) experience in sourcing relevant portfolio of direct materials in the Personal Care or CPG industry, (2) an understanding and a track record of successfully executing sourcing strategies, and contracting methods to deliver distinctive value for the company, (3) a deep understanding of supply chain and lean manufacturing practices, and (4) leadership weight and entrepreneurial spirit; capability of leading change through action and influence in an evolving corporate environment.

Position Summary:

  • To support Beautycounterís rapid growth and product expansion, we are seeking to hire an Associate Sourcing Manager. The position will be based at company headquarters in Santa Monica, reporting to the Manager of Sourcing, and will take responsibility for a growing portfolio of raw material and packaging.
  • The†Sourcing Manager will be responsible to lead the execution of category sourcing strategies for ingredients, contract manufacturing, and primary and secondary packaging. The role will also focus on supporting new product launches from an ingredient sourcing standpoint.

Responsibilities:

  • Execution of category strategies: Collaborate with Manager of Sourcing to implement action plans for contract manufacturers, primary components, secondary components, fragrance/essential oils, actives, and carrier oils.
  • Support supply chain and cash flow initiatives: Implement Vendor Manage Inventory programs to improve cash flow, optimize supply chain lead time, and maximize economic value. Collaborate with key suppliers to improve/extend payment terms. †
  • New Product Launches: Engage with Marketing and Product Innovation teams to support new development activities. Develop new suppliers and source new material with a focus on speed to market, quality, cost and supply stability.

Requirements:†

  • At least five years in a well-respected supply chain organization with a track record of results managing direct material and packaging categories.
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing and general supply chain tools for optimization.
  • Experience with category management and multi-step strategic sourcing processes; able to lead and manage multiple initiative simultaneously.
  • Strong project management skills, including stakeholder, timeline, and meeting management skills.
  • Understanding of general procure to pay processes and systems, including use of ERP systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills; comfortable and credible with both internal stakeholders and external audiences.
  • Manages change through influence; capable of driving major commercial decisions across a diverse set of stakeholders.
  • A flexible, dynamic, self-demanding and proactive individual; able to motivate him/herself and others; easily accepts constructive input from others.
  • Bachelorís Degree in business, engineering, supply chain, or related field.
  • Proficient in relevant supply chain and business software, including MRP and ERP Systems.
  • Minimum of 5 years in CPG or Direct Selling procurement roles.
